Born and raised in Southeastern Wisconsin, my passion for weather did not start at an early age. In fact you could say I was deathly terrified of severe weather as a child. I was the first one in the family to be running to the basement and the last one to go outside to watch the storms. To this day I still do not know why it happened but my fear of storms turned into an obsession. I am now running to the storms instead of running from them. This obsession brought me to where I am today. As of May 2009 I graduated with a B.S. in Meteorology and a minor in Physics. I began photographing storms back in 2001 with a point and shoot camera. A few years later I upgraded to a 35mm film SLR which gave me a much wider range as far as the camera's abilities. I shot with the film SLR for a few years until recently upgrading once again to my current digital Canon Xti. Today it doesn't matter what is happening weather wise, be it a thunderstorm or a blizzard, I am out there with camera in hand. Although my passion is photographing the weather, my photography doesn't stop there. I also shoot macro photos along with portraits and landscapes. Living in a rural area has given me a chance to photograph storms from up close to catch fine detail and at a distance showing their complex structure.
